You know what people like? To feel good. I will take an opportunity every day to make someone feel good. If they discount themselves in some way, I will go out of my way to figure out a way to make them feel good about themselves.
Don’t think you are important? Sit back and think about what you do and what impact you make on the people around you. Directly AND indirectly. If you don’t think you do, then try harder. It’s a rewarding experience.
Once you do feel better about yourself, pass it along by example. Kinda like paying it forward. That is what this planet needs. More praise and more self worth.
I was chatting this morning with a friend and she called herself a glorified babysitter because she ran a daycare. I told her that there is no way I could do what she does. Don’t discount yourself. People depend on you.
I think she appreciated that. Hopefully I made her day. That is a reward for me for the day. Damn good karma.
When I have a client who says they know nothing about Event Technology, I say “Well, I don’t know anything about what you do. We are all good at something. That’s what makes the world go round.”
I say that a lot. It’s a boost. And that is why my clients love me.
So this goes along with the last post on taking what you know for granted.
Don’t.
