So Emancipation Day brought up a question in my mind: Why is it that April 16th(Emancipation Day) is not a more celebrated day of the year? This is the day Lincoln freed the slaves…I would think the same people who celebrate Martin Luther King Day would more hardily celebrate this day. Emancipation Day is like the 4th of July for the ancestors of the freed slaves. Are there parades and such on that day that I never hear about?
